South Mountain State Park

 More than 29 miles of horse trails.   Nearest town is Morganton, NC. 

Leatherwood Stables

512 Meadow Road, Ferguson NC 28624

75 miles of beautiful trails in the NC mountains.  Camping available with hookups, cabin rentals & horses for rent as well.  You can bring your own horses, must rent stalls no horses at camp sites. 

DuPont State Forest NC

Cedar Mountain, NC 28718

90 miles of trails around beautiful waterfalls.  Over 95% of the trails are single track, sandy trails and old logging roads.  One of the waterfalls was used in Michael Mann's "Last of the Mohicans" as the waterfall they walked behind to hide from the Indians.  No camping is available.  Check website for cabin rentals.

Morrow Mountain State Park

Enjoy 16 miles of bridle trails.  New trails have been added, 2 and 4 hour options available.  Check website during inclement weather to ensure bridle path is open.    

Love Valley

169 Henry Martin Trail, Love Valley, NC 28625

Love Valley has about 75 miles of trails with various creeks and small ponds.  Several places around town to board horses in either a slip stall outside or in a barn with stalls.  Some places have hot showers and bathroom facilities.  There's a wild west town in the middle of the 75 miles of trails.  Its the cowboy capital of NC and according to the 2000 census the smallest town in NC. 

Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve

1500 Laurel Lane, Blowing Rock, NC 28605

Moses Cone Memorial Park and Carriage Trails.  Easy to moderate trails, 25 miles of carriage roads.  The preserve is the only equine facility with access to the park.  Campsites are available here with hookups.  Plan Ahead!  Reservations are recommended for camping.

Latta Plantation Equestrian Center-Mecklenburg Park and Recreation Center

The Equestrian Center is part of Lata Plantation Nature Preserve, a 2200 acre nature preserve in Northern Mecklenburg County.  19 Miles of winding trails in the nature preserve and along Mountain Island Lake.  No camping permitted.  Horses available for rent. 

Biltmore Estates Equestrian Center NC

Biltmore riding trails, did you know that part of the estate of the Vanderbilt's is still accessible to riders?  You can bring your carriage as well, many of the roads and trails are suitable for driving! 

Uwharrie National Forest

Three horse camps and over 32 miles of trails designated for equine use in the Uwharrie National forest.
